The Unborn Daughter (Demo)
A downloadable game
The Unborn Daughter is an off-kilter fantasy RPG about Dorothy, a wandering traveller who drifts to shore in a land to which she is a stranger. But she is far from helpless, for she has the power to emulate and permanently learn almost every monster power that she can witness. Despite this, it's not all easy. This land, still recovering from the ravages of war and the recession of the tides of 'civilization', is not a forgiving place. But take heart and endure, Dorothy! The end is in sight.
Explore, gather allies, fight dense and strategic battles and read a surprisingly large amount of dialogue in this in-development demo! This is a game that rewards attention, with a plethora of secret areas, hidden recruitable party members and a blue magic system that rewards smart play and synergies.
FEATURES:
- Last updated: 31st of December, 2021!
- Over 12 hours of content.
- A cast of lovable(???) assholes.
- More mechanics than you can shake a stick at! Perhaps even too many. Every character brings something completely unique to the table.
- Illustrations by Gehn (this is a NSFW link)
- Music mostly by Wingless Seraph, though I have contributed a few tracks myself.
- An in-game credits page to check out all the wonderful people who post RPGMaker resources online and thus contributed unwittingly to this demo.
- A semi-open world. Every area included in the demo is open for you to explore in any order you wish. Even the areas you really shouldn't go!

- Hundreds of different types of enemies, most of whom are ready and waiting for you to plunder their techniques!
- Challenging but not absurdly so battles which test what Skills you've learned and can be solved in multiple different ways.
- A slew of optional areas and content that reward exploration with unique items and Skills to be learnt.
- It's got jokes!
- There really is quite a bit of dialogue. Good news if that's your jam.
- Is quantity and variety of status effects a selling point? There are so goddamn many.
CONTENT NOTE: Contains no smut but does feature regular profanity and implied sexual situations.

I know this is a demo, but it's already more complete than most full games! I'm really impressed by the sheer breadth of possible play styles for Dorothy, and the interactions between the characters are a joy to see.
About the secret boss in Shallas Grove - I haven't found any attacks that are able to damage it. What can I use to fight it? (Or am I missing the point by asking?)
Thank you, it's good to see that people are still coming across this demo from time to time even as im swamped in other work. Regarding the secret boss in the Grove, it's a bit of a silly joke boss. There's a specific skill in a party member's (not Dorothy) skillset that acts upon the Void.
HA! Thank you for the hint!
No worries :)
Thanks for giving this a try! I was asleep when you were streaming it, unfortunately.
I'm so excited to finally play the new update! Congratulations for the development of this game, it sure is a wonderful one (even if it's still a demo).
Thank you!
I like it so far. The whole world with the half-monster and human conflict is interesting. I also like the skill learn system. And of course the music is awesome. What I don't like is that some enemies can attack multiple times, that's a bit frustrating. And I found a bug: If you storm the castle, you can skip the guard tower portion by going up on the grass.
One final question: Can I use the umbrella sprite for one of my games?
Yeah sure, I don't see why not!
Oh and also thanks for submitting that bug. Adding it to the list.
Thanks!
Ok, how do I contribute?
Pardon?
To the game developers, how do I give you $$ because I appreciate your hard work and genius?
This game will be great, it already is, so I would like to pay.
Do you have a website or something?
A lot of times when you download something it asks for $$ but your download doesn't. so many games on here on not worth a nickle but this one I like very much, storming the castle was just great.I can't wait until I learn how to walk on the lillypads.
Thanks.
Aw thanks! When the next big content update is complete, I'll change the payment method so that people can donate if they want to
If I live that long, thanks but a real con artist picks up the money the second that they see it.
lol
Just kidding, this game is over the top cool and fun
I can't imagine how gifted you are to create something like this/
I have never played a game were you get to steal your opponents skills.
I wonder if that crab one will come up useful later?
Give me an insider tip, I am not supposed to be walking on the lilly pads yet am I?
I have tried almost every key command.
Just don't tell me huh? lol
Thank you! And no, you cannot walk on the lilypads until you learn forbidden frog secrets in [UPCOMING CONTENT PATCH]
So far, I can think of one place and time where the crab move will be helpful. Check out the sandcastle at the beach.
The dialogue between the characters is delightfully quirky and at times hilarious.
Ouro, you are a great writer from what I can see from this demo, I hope that you will be able to complete this game because the potential is there for this to be a real gem.
Any chance of getting er' wrapped up by...
Next week maybe?
I don't think that I will be able to wait any longer.....
First of all, thank you! Secondly, it's funny you should say that because I intend to release an update soon. It won't be an update that finishes the game but it should make many of the areas playable and advance the demo's story a bit more.
Sounds good, I am all out of stuff to mess with.
For a demo, this game is chok ful of great stuff already.
No glitches or bugs to report either.
I have not been so tickled by anything so much since ,
"Weird and Unfortunate things are Happening"
I will have to part with some $ when I get the update.
Ahhh been waiting a while for the demo to properly release on this. Can't wait for the full thing.
